Open-ended support for cancer-affected children and their families in the UK

The Joshua Tree aims to ensure that a cancer diagnosis does not prevent any child or young person, regardless of background, from accessing educational and social opportunities and aims to give every child the ability to lead a good quality of life. As opposed to standard practices, this project not only cares for the children’s health, emotional well-being and welfare, but its care also expands to the child’s siblings, parents, carers, and other family members and friends. Moreover, in comparison to conventional care methods, the charity’s care that is open-ended, and thus available for as long as the family and/or child wishes to receive it.

Programme activities include therapeutic support and counselling, play activities, peer support, family activity events, and bereavement support.
