Exercise for healthy wellbeing in Essen, Germany
The Westdeutsche Tumorzentrum (WTZ) aims to reduce, and when possible, to wholly prevent long term cancer symptoms in children and adolescents via physical exercise. Different exercise programmes are offered to in- and outpatient visitors. During participants’ home stays in between chemo rounds, the patients receive recordings of exercise sets to be used. Every child and adolescent gets their own uniquely tailored fitness programme, according to individual wants and needs, to not only ensure effectiveness, but also to promote enjoyment of exercise. Beyond fitness programmes, WTZ also offers counselling for families.
