Learning participation and initiative

The goal of the project “Demokratie und Teilhabe”, meaning “Democracy and Participation”, is to not only transform democracy into something tangible for young people with immigration experience, but also to place a special focus on their voices and unique perspectives. The aim is to reach an audience of teenagers in Frankfurt, Germany, who are often left out from participating and to promote democracy. The project is split into two phases. Phase one entails an active exploration of the UN rights of the child. This phase is followed by a volunteering project of choice jointly planned by “ZuBaKa” and school classes. Language-sensitive democracy teachings and democracy participation are interlinked by the project.

Target group: Young people with background of immigration and seeking refuge
