Playfully enhancing skills via multilingual books in Germany

The “Book-Suitcase-Programme” aims to enhance children’s understanding of their mother-tongue general language-, and mathematics skills via the utilisation of different multilingual books. Basic language and mathematics skills are ubiquitous in today’s sophisticated world, which is why the coach@school programme aims to enhance young children’s abilities in these skills in partnership with nurseries, schools, and parental homes.

In one part of the project, nursery teachers motivate more parents to read books to their children with the aim of piquing the children’s interest and curiosity in reading. Thus, the children’s interest is being awoken at an early age. Another tool to further increase the children’s eagerness to read, is the suitcases filled with books in multiple languages for the young students and children to take home on a regular basis. Moreover, one of the suitcases will also be equipped with maths related books and games in order to playfully teach children the basics of mathematics.
